Testers (for State-Mandated Benchmark Testing)

Oregon state law mandates that homeschooled students be tested 4 times during their schooling:  3rd grade, 5th grade, 8th grade, and 10th grade.  The testers listed below are all certified to do homeschool benchmark testing.  Contact any or all of them to choose - their methods, prices, test choices, and test locations vary.

Tyann Batson - Tyann is an Oregon certified tester.  She has a group test scheduled for June 7, 2014 (Saturday), 9:00 AM to noon, at Emmanuel Bible Church on Sunnyview and Howell Prairie (8512 Sunnyview Rd. NE, Salem, OR 97305).  The cost is just $45.00 per child, all grades.  Private tests can also be scheduled for $60.00 per child.  To sign up or schedule testing, call Tyann at (503) 585-7755, or e-mail tbatson1014@gmail.com.

Patty Chalupsky - Patty homeschooled her (now adult) four daughters.  She is a licensed educator, and creates a quiet testing atmosphere, in her home on 3 acres.  She loves to host, so guardians are welcome to stay, but no talking during testing :).  Contact Patty at pattychalupsky@gmail.com.  Her address is 43418 Kingston-Lyons Dr. in Stayton.

Stacy Cogar - To see information about and sign up for Terra Nova test dates please visit this website.

Steve Dixon - Steve administers the Terra Nova Survey to 3rd, 5th, 8th, and 10th graders. Most of his testing is done in May and early June in Dallas, OR.  If you want to know available testing dates you can send Steve an email at: smdixon787@msn.com

Susan Farmer -  Susan home schooled her 3 children (now grown) and has tested children in the Salem area since 1989.  She offers the state-required testing through unique testing opportunities which might not be available from other testers, to assist students who might need a bit more TLC and support in their testing experience.  A parent may accompany the student into the testing room.  Testing may be either 1 day, 2 days, or even smaller increments if needed.  Private testing is conducted at her home office/tutoring room, and she will consider testing in your own home.  Parents can also organize testing groups of their own, if desired.
Susan offers parents the option of the opportunity for their student to complete the test with extra time rather than leaving items blank due to insufficient time.  This gives parents more information as students get 2 scores (the timed legal score, and the extra-time score so parents know if their child was at least able to answer the questions.)  Parents may schedule an appointment to see the specific test items their child missed.

Various other assessments and screenings (far better than multiple-choice tests) are offered to assist in determining if students are "on track" at typical grade level.  Susan also conducts assessments for PDP's for students with learning disabilities or other special needs.  Testing accommodations (extra time, etc) are provided as approved in the parent's IEP or PDP plan under the home school law.  She offers homeschool consulting for curriculum options, and helps parents get started by knowing where their child is currently performing academically. Cheryl Krieg - Contact Cheryl at 503-873-3045.

Sharon Roy -  503-873-8376 (Silverton)  Sharon homeschooled her two daughters, and she is a Reading Specialist and works in the public schools

Megan Stuck - I used to be a third grade teacher at Crosshill Christian School (formerly Willamette Christian School) from 2000-2006 until I had my first child and has been blessed to stay home ever since.  I give the state-approved Terra Nova CAT test.  The basic test covers math, reading, and language which usually takes a few hours to complete.  We take short breaks between each test with a longer snack and recess break half-way through the test.  I give my test at Crosshill Christian School so usually test from June-August.  I will do private, semi-private, and group testing.  Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to schedule a test mstuck4(at)yahoo.com, 503-602-4795 or join my homeschool testing FB page https://www.facebook.com/groups/350814658289354/
